Malaysia Airlines has frequent, affordable and direct flights from most major Australian cities (and Auckland) to KL, plus direct flights from Perth to Sabah.

Singapore Airlines flies via Singapore with connections (via their Silk Air subsidiary) to Langkawi, KL and Penang on the Peninsula and to Kuching and Kota Kinabalu on Borneo Island out of most Australian capital cities.
