The name 'Borneo' has long meant magic to travellers, and if you skip Sarawak, you'll miss something special. Sarawak shares its borders with Indonesia's Kalimantan province in the south and Brunei and Sabah in the north-east. Sarawak is Malaysia's largest state, covering an area of 124, 450 sq.km. with one of the most pleasant cities in all of Asia, Kuching, as its capital.

Two-thirds of its land is covered in rainforests and its population of 1.7 million is made up of 23 ethnic groups. Sarawak's indigenous peoples have a strong sense of identity and have made their mark in government, education and the media. A unique history has given Sarawak a character of its own, distinct yet very much a part of Malaysia.

How to get to Sarawak
  • Those visitor from Brunei, can fly direct to Kuching or take a bus to Miri and then fly to Kuching.
  • From other destinations around the world, you can fly to Kuala Lumpur (Capital of Malaysia) and then take another flight direct to Kuching.
  • Visitor can also fly to Singapore and take another flight direct to Kuching or Singapore to Kuala Lumpur and then to Kuching.
  • There are also flights from Hong Kong direct to Kuching.
  • Likewise from Australia then are flight available directly from Perth to Kuching.
  • The other route that can also be taken by some Asian Countries is to take a flight from their
    Country to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and then board another flight direct to Kuching.
  • Likewise you can also board a flight to Brunei Darussalam and fly direct to Kuching from there.
 
PLACES OF INTEREST IN SARAWAK - BORNEO
Bako National Park
Gazetted in 1957, Bako is Sarawak’s oldest national park, covering an area of 2,727 hectares at the tip of the Muara Tebas peninsula.
 
Batang Ai National Park
The park's vast rainforest is home to wildlife such as orang utans, gibbons and hornbills. It also contains a five-star hotel.
The Grand Old Lady
Malaysia’s first inland oil drilling platform and one of Sarawak’s most important historical monuments.
Gunung Gading National Park
The chief attraction at Gunung Gading is the giant Rafflesia blossom. This is one of the best places in Borneo to see this rarity.
Gunung Mulu National Park
Mulu National Park is home to one of the largest caves in the world. All set in a beautiful, all-natural environment deep in the rainforest.

Lambir Hills National Park
